Recently, within the past two years, there have been major achievements in the #MeToo Movement. These Achievements have advanced the cause tremendously and are helping make the future more equal and safer for women all over the world.
Since the #MeToo movement started, many men have been convicted because of sexual assault claims by women. Due to this, some men are avoiding spending time with female colleagues in the wake of the movement. Nearly two thirds of men reported they would be uncomfortable taking part in a one-on-one activity with a women. As an effect, women are missing out on mentorship opportunities professional links that could lead to promotion. Thirty six percent of men (out of 5000 U.S. men) reported that they avoided socializing or mentoring a woman due to the fact that they were nervous of how it would appear. Because of the #MeToo movement, women are ultimately missing out on job opportunities because more men are becoming afraid of socializing with female colleagues.
